First Posts About Sketches - 8/18

I have created cards before now, based on Split Coast Stamper's sketches that they have shown on their website.  I have been proud of some, and blecch'd at some, although I know I am just a beginner.

Well, today, I created 2 cards.  I am not at the stage where I write down what the paper, card, etc, is, I can at least show you the cards...one was a sketch, and one was a challenge.

First, there's this card.  It's based on the latest Clean and Simple challenge, CAS131.  The challenge was Partial Pictures.  So, I decided to use a partial piece of doily.  I added a pointsettia flower, and a glitter "star" to finish it off.

Second, I worked with a sketch posted.  For me, it was a complicated sketch, however, for some of ya'll, it probably wasn't.  I am still learning, and need to learn balance of materials, not just colors and textures.  But, it was practice, and will be going to The Art of Encouragement for their Christmas drive.

This is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

Both are Christmas, which is the theme I am working in right now.  This will probably go to TAoE also, along with others that I have made.

So....hope you like, and hopefully I will improve as time goes on!

First Post and Generosity

I have thought of many ideas for this post.  Many first ideas, some cards I made, etc.

Then today, it kindof fell together.  I started working on the different aspects of this, the background, the text colors, and other things.  Then I got an email.  2 boxes of scrapbooking items were waiting for me!  Oh....surprise, surprise!

About 3 - 5 months ago, I answered a freecycle ad, about free scrapbooking items.  She not only gave "some" items, but gave me a good start.  Scorers, paper, stamps...these were very nice items, and I was so very happy.  So a couple a days ago, I answered again, and although she had already promised the items to someone else, she said she would put together some items for me.  Today, I got the email, that said she got 2 boxes ready for me.

Again, I am shocked!  different embellishments, a binder of clear stamps, some extra stamps beyond that, ...I am just flabbergasted.  And she also donated some cards for Operation Write Home, for me to send with my package, when I make the cards for the soldiers who are diligently spending their times overseas.  And on top of that....some cute pics that I can color!  Jeeps, why not yesterday, before I bought 2 coloring books?  *laughs*

Anyway, Veronica....thank you!  I can't think of a better way to start a first blog entry, than by giving gratitude to a wonderful person, and generous to boot!
